If you apply a gradient in the document window, then click another tool in the toolbox, and then choose the Interactive Gradient tool again, the tool now functions as expected. So I am warning you if you dont want to have to work hard to learn the basics then dont get this.I however dont mind for the rewards are quite worth it in how much more you can do wtith it. 
They are much cheaper, you can even get Artrage oils for android free. But if you dont want something quite technical and something that requires a lot of effort to learn to use competently, then get an easier art program like ArtRage or something else on that level. I am going to work on this and keep learning I think even after one year I will still be learning to do new things with it and that actually makes me happy.
It is huge and it does so much-but you have to learn each thing and it was hard for me to get started but I am now doing better and have started doing some real art with I will post some pics so you can see what it can do.it is so cool. I will tell you though it is not easy to learn to use.
